The right answer depends on practice size and the gap you're trying to close.
Under $1M annual revenue: stay inside your PMS (Dentrix, OpenDental, Curve, etc.) and add a retention layer (SMS reminders, recall sequences, review automation) on top. A full CRM is overhead.
$1M-$3M: the retention layer needs to consolidate patient view across providers + appointment types. A dental-specific platform (Modento, Weave, Lighthouse 360) or a managed retention system is the right shape.
Above $3M or multi-location: the patient view needs to span locations + marketing channels. A CRM-style platform with attribution becomes worth the investment. Edynamics layers on top to handle the operational and intelligence pieces practice-specific tools don't cover.
